About Alpha Lambda Epsilon
Alpha Lambda Epsilon was founded in 1922 as a sorority on the campus of Olivet College. The society reorganized its membership in 1975 to admit men, thus becoming the first co-educational literary/social society in the nation. The society motto is Bear Well the Torch.
Our Vision:
The Alpha Lambda Epsilon Literary Society is dedicated to furthering individuality and harmony among humanity. We are united as members to help each other to grown academically, socially, and emotionally by discovering and developing our own identities from the purpose aiding the Olivet community.
Our Aspiration:
As members of the Alpha Lambda Epsilon Literary Society, we aspire to promote greater knowledge and understanding among all the mankind, especially the men and women of Olivet. It is our aspiration to encourage our members to be strong in our academics, as well as, actively participating in extra-curricular activities, in order to complete a well-rounded liberal arts education. By bonding as a family unit, we fulfill the need form emotional and social support that foster acceptable morals and values and prepare out members for the many responsibilities of today’s society and develop professional etiquette. We hope to better the college and community of Olivet by providing service to those in need. We desire to create a healthy, open environment to bridge the gap of understanding between genders, ethnic groups, cultural backgrounds, and religious creeds.
Our Commitment:
We at Alpha Lambda Epsilon are committed to contributing to the betterment of Olivet College by providing a healthy environment for social development, an educational outpost beyond the classroom, and by serving the college as a liaison between the college and our alumni. We are also committed to the goal of academic excellence by fostering the history and values of the Olivet community and assisting any and all in need. In order to strengthen our commitment, we maintain an ever-open door.
